Lily in Full Bloom

Summary:

Lily in Full Bloom is a short chapter book from the Disney Fairies series, written by Laura Driscoll and Pamela Bobowicz. This story is set in the world of Peter Pan, where fairies play a part in the upkeep and protection of this world. A garden-talent fairy named Lily is one of these many fairies living in Pixie Hollow, and in this storybook, she takes on a challenge to try something beyond her normal routine: inventing. To not spoil it, first things go well, and then things go wrong. As for the ending, it’s not a bad one, but it could’ve been written more cleverly.

Morals: The morals of the story include working hard in secret, working with your community to solve problems, and asking an authority figure for help.

Recommendation:

If you need something simple and fun, this book is an excellent break from the tragic grownup fantasy books of today. Its “magic” principles are more reminiscent of J.R.R. Tolkien than J.K. Rowling, so if you are comfortable with a children’s version of Lord of the Rings-style magic, then this book is a great read!
